INGESOM modernizes the programming of an HMI and an OMRON PLC of a textile machine.

INGESOM installs a state-of-the-art OMRON HMI and PLC, replacing the existing ones, and modernizes its programming in a textile machine for Control Techniques, a world leader in the design and production of electronic variable speed drives for the control of electric motors based in Newtown, Wales. It has dedicated production and R&D facilities around the world, along with automation centers in 45 locations around the globe.
Control Techniques is a Nidec company, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of drives for a variety of technologies found in a wide range of applications, including computers, cell phones, home appliances, automobiles, manufacturing plants and robots, among others. It has approximately 300 subsidiaries and 140,000 employees worldwide, with annual sales in excess of $14.7 billion.
The equipment was obsolete, they had problems locating spare parts and they needed to centralize the control of all the processes involved in the operation of the textile machine. With the improvements made by INGESOM, all the information is centralized in the PLC, and thus, with a view to future expansions, both the management of remote control and supervision through a SCADA application, as well as the subsequent analysis of the data already recorded, is facilitated.
The new interface design is simpler and more intuitive, making it easier to modify and manage recipes. In addition, the current status of the machine and all its components can be monitored from the overview, showing at a glance the most important data and signals for the efficient control of the machine.
New features have been added to the application, now allowing you to monitor and modify the temperature control settings from the machine’s HMI, as well as the tension and speed of the fabric in each zone of the machine. These functions reduce the time spent by operators and reduce possible human errors, which translates into increased productivity and profitability for the customer.
