INGESOM develops a kit to monitor levels of respirable crystalline silica in the environment.

INGESOM develops a kit to monitor and control the levels of respirable crystalline silica in the environment, specifically designed for any company in the industrial sector where materials, products or raw materials containing free silica are crushed, cut, drilled, drilled or ground in their production process.
In 2017, Directive (EU) 2017/2398 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 December 2017 amending Directive 2004/37/EC on the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to carcinogens or mutagens at work was published in the Official Journal of the European Union. This amendment indicates the inclusion of work involving exposure to respirable crystalline silica dust generated in a work process and establishes a limit value for respirable crystalline silica dust (“respirable fraction”) to be subject to review, particularly in light of the number of workers exposed.
This kit for particle measurement developed by INGESOM is a solution that complies with the new regulations established in the EU, and also with the Royal Decree 665/1997 that came into force in Spain on January 17, 2020. Through the installation of several continuous dust measurement sensors, installed in some points of the factory selected by the customer, the system reacts to anomalous situations by generating alarms and alerting the user by e-mail. This data is recorded in a database and the customer can view on the website the graphical representation of the information along with some reports, which contributes to increased control over the level of dust particles and facilitates decision making by management.
Currently, INGESOM has installed more than 50 monitoring kits for respirable crystalline silica in the environment, in some of the best known companies of the ceramic sector in Castellón. The lifetime of the low-cost sensors reaches 10 years, ensuring stability for continuous use, fast response time enables real-time monitoring and improved reliability allows use in harsh environments. All these benefits, together with a competitive price, make this product ideal for any industrial company seeking to improve control over suspended silica dust to ensure optimal working conditions for its workers.
